CTO Warit Delivers Commemorative Speech at the Japan-Thailand Space Industry MOC Signing Ceremony

The ceremony, organized by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and Thailand's Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), took place on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at the Japanese Ambassador's Residence in Bangkok, Thailand.

Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Yodchanan Wongsawat, has been actively promoting advanced scientific and technological fields—such as space, semiconductors, and quantum technology—as a key strategy for the nation's scientific development.

This signing ceremony was held to facilitate concrete collaboration between Japan and Thailand in the space industry, bringing together Japanese space startups and government officials from both countries for a momentous occasion.

To mark this milestone, our Director and CTO, Warit Asavanant—a Thai native and leading researcher in optical quantum computing—attended the ceremony to express his heartfelt congratulations.. His presence highlighted the potential for bilateral cooperation in the "quantum" field, poised to be the next-generation key technology following space.

"I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations on the signing of this Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC). I originally came to Japan from Thailand as a government-sponsored international student, and I have been engaged in the R&D of optical quantum computers at the Furusawa Laboratory of the University of Tokyo for over a decade. As a Thai national and a technology professional, I am immensely proud to witness this moment of significant progress in the technological partnership between our two countries.

Space, semiconductors, photonics, and quantum technologies are key pillars that will determine future international competitiveness. As the exponential spread of AI makes data center power consumption a pressing global issue, I firmly believe that our optical quantum computers—which operate at room temperature and ambient pressure while minimizing heat generation for superior energy savings and miniaturization—can serve as the ultimate solution for next-generation computing infrastructure. Furthermore, this information processing technology is a highly promising candidate for advancing space technology, enabling 'in-satellite data processing' to reduce data transmission loads to Earth, and 'ensuring information security through quantum cryptography.'
